Bolu Abant İzzet Baysal University School of Physical Education and Sports (BESYO) was established in the 1993 - 1994 academic year, affiliated with the Faculty of Education. It became a college in 1995 and started to accept students for the Physical Education Teaching Department since the 1993 - 1994 academic year, for the Coaching Education Department since the 2000 - 2001 academic year, and for the Sports Management Department since the 2003 - 2004 academic year. With the Presidential Decree dated 17.04.2019 and numbered 968, published in the Official Gazette dated 18.04.2019 and numbered 30749, our University's School of Physical Education and Sports was closed and the Faculty of Sports Sciences was established.
The general purpose of the Faculty of Sports Sciences is to train Physical Education teachers in primary and secondary education institutions, coaches and managers in various branches for the central and provincial organizations and sports clubs of the Ministry of Youth and Sports and its Affiliated Organizations, in line with the general purpose of Turkish National Education, and also in a wide variety of fields in the private sector (tourism, industry, municipalities, etc.) to train leaders who can work. In addition, the foundations of future academics who can work at the university level are laid here.
